KarlPleasanton, CA (January 23, 2014) – Koach Karl Dewazien, who served as CYSA/Cal North State Director of Coaching for more than thirty-four years, was elected to the Cal North Hall of Fame.  Koach Karl’s coaching philosophy and style benefited generations of soccer players, not only in Cal North, but throughout the United States and abroad. Karl’s tireless drive to improve the coaching education platform for coaches across the country included working as CYSA/Cal North State Director of Coaching, Author and Publisher of the FUNdamental Soccer Book/DVD Series, as well as co-chairing the US Youth Soccer Coaching Committee.

Cal North Executive Director Dave Mann said  “Karl Dewazien was one of the pioneers at the California Youth Soccer Association; his Kids First approach was and continues to be our motto.  We appreciate his dedication, commitment and service to generations of kids.  He made the difference at CYSA/Cal North and in youth soccer.  I am personally very excited to see him inducted into the Cal North Hall of Fame. Congratulations Koach Karl.

Bob Asklof200

Bob Asklof, a staple on the CYSA/Cal North Board of Directors for more than twenty years, has been elected to the Cal North Hall of Fame.  Bob’s impressive record of tireless volunteering for the kids of Cal North Soccer is second to none.  During Bob’s twenty plus years, he held many positions including; CYSA/Cal North District VIII Commissioner, Lodi Youth Soccer League Tournament Director, Referee Director for Lodi Youth Soccer League, Former Cal North State Cup Chairman, and Chair of the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships held in Pleasanton Ca.

According to Dr. Pete Zopfi, Cal North Chairman, "Bob has always been one of the great leaders of CYSA/Cal North. He is an advocate for all players young and old, big and small, recreational and competitive. His heartfelt guidance has helped shape CYSA/Cal North into the fantastic youth organization that it is currently."

Cal North Executive Director Dave Mann said, “Bob Asklof was my mentor when I first became the Cal North District II Commissioner years ago, and I credit Bob for my success as a District Commissioner.  Bob is a leader and fighter representing his district, and is highly respected by his constituents.   Bob is most deserving of his induction into CYSA/Cal North Hall of Fame.  He was the anchor of District VIII and his leadership will be greatly missed by all.”
